Branded Food Business

Office location: Berkshire (expectation 3 days/week)

Salary & reward: Open to attract best; £6k allowance; 15% bonus plus package

We are actively recruiting a Category Development Manager role managing Sainsbury’s & Waitrose for a leading food group. This is a superb opportunity for a Category professional who wants to work for a company grounded in food & flavours! Operating in autonomous business units, this organisation have a portfolio of instantly recognisable brands which are performing well within on-trend categories.

With established Category Vision & Drivers you would be accountable for driving Category Engagement to deliver long term sustainable Category growth through Range, Space, Merchandising and Promotional recommendations. Its an environment that empowers; you will take full ownership and accountability for growing the Category within Sainsbury’s & Waitrose, establishing yourself as a trusted, independent voice, but to also be mindful of the commercial landscape. 

In the role you will also be brand aligned which will mean you will work cross functionally with Insights, Marketing & Innovation to ensure Category is at the heart of Brand Innovation & Communications. This is an important dynamic of the role and will add breadth to the normal Customer Category Development role. You will need to positively challenge internal teams to ensure the plans (Innovation, Brand or Customer) will add value to the Category. 

With a classically trained blue chip background, ideally you will be a highly motivated and ambitious individual with a minimum of two year’s experience in a Category role. We are however open and would be interested if you have been working within an associated area which would naturally transfer; National Accounts; Retail Buying or operating in one of the Continuous Data agencies looking for the client side move. What is key is you will have strong analytical capable of pulling out insights and be able to develop compelling category recommendations for the customer.
