Senior Buyer

This fast paced global food travel retail business are looking for their next talented buyer, to develop quickly in this high growth period. No 2 days are the same but example responsibilities include:

• Manage key product categories & suppliers
• Focus on cost price improvements to drive profit performance, negotiating improved and sustainable commercial terms
• Work closely with the Supply Chain team to assist in management of logistics, shelf life, storage and minimum production runs
• Ensure product is sourced at best cost
• Ensuring the business select the right suppliers
• Work cross functionally with marketing, NPD, operations, finance, commercial teams
• Negotiate terms with suppliers, distributors, manufacturers and importers

The ideal candidate will possess: Essential:

•  c.4 years minimum buying experience within a food/drink retailer, wholesaler, caterer or supplier
•  Strong analytical skills
•  Strong communication skills & the ability to work with all levels of stakeholders
•  Excellent negotiation and influencing skills
•  Excellent oral and written skills Desirable:
•  Contract management knowledge
•  Category management principles and customer insight experience
•  Experience of supplier quality assurance including food safety, due diligence, accreditation etc
•  A degree, preferably in business or management related subjects
