Area Sales Manager – Imported Foods/Commodity Food Products
£33 - £38,000 basic, plus bonus plus company car.
Our Client is a small & expanding food import business. There is massive potential to grow the business and they need a sales professional in the south of the country to realise that potential. The job’s emphasis will be on new business ( which will probably account for about 75% to 80% of the job holder’s time and effort ).
Our Client sells commodity / ingredient items such as rice, flour, maize, pasta etc. and it is very important that candidates come from a similar commodity / ingredient background.
It’s also reasonably important that candidates are from an own label background. It is also essential that candidates come from an ambient background.
The company’s main markets are foodservice wholesalers and large food manufacturers. The various channels are listed below
1 . National wholesale delivered distributors ( such as Brakes and Bidvest )
2 . Independent wholesale delivered distributors being part of a buying group ( such as Caterforce, Sterling, Fairway, Country Range, Landmark etc. )
3 . Larger Food manufacturers ( the likes of Greencore, Two Sisters etc. )
4 . Smaller Food manufacturers
5 . Contract caterers ( the likes of Sodexo, Compass, Aramark etc. )
The most important thing is that candidates have exposure to either 1,2, or 3 from the above list ( more than one would be a bonus ). This should ideally involve some head office exposure, as well as branch exposure with an understanding of how to both a ) get a listing at head office and b ) activate the branches to sell the listings by way of Ra Ra days, telesales promotions etc. and possibly even working alongside the wholesalers’ own sales forces.
Remuneration £33k to £38k basic, plus bonus plus company car.
Living location – there’s lots of travelling with this role but in particular the job holder will need easy access to London on a regular basis. Candidates should live within the following geography;
Starting at Swindon follow the M4 in an easterly direction to Slough, then follow the M25 south in an anti-clockwise direction until you get to Jn. 27 ( near Harlow at about 1 o clock on the clock face. Go north to Cambridge ( up the M11 ), then west to Northampton, and then south-west back to Swindon.
