Expansion plans for 2018-19 are extensive and our client is therefore looking for an ambitious and highly creative PR Manager, who will report to the Marketing Director.

The successful candidate will have experience in a PR role ideally in baby and child or FMCG sector, with an ability to generate brand building opportunities in the press, across the UK and Ireland. They will be the eyes and ears on the media world, identifying and sharing opportunities for the company to stand out, not just in the parenting arena but specifically lifestyle, beauty and health articles (be in the press that mum’s and dad’s read). They will be responsible for the building and successful implementation of PR campaigns working closely with the Marketing Manager and Marketing Director.

Key Responsibilities

Trade Objective: Strengthen the Position

  • Develop and maintain the company’s corporate image, identity and profile
  • Write interesting, accurate and effective press materials focusing on brand, product news, NPD, international growth and listings
  • Dial up category value creation credentials - no 2-snacking brand, no.1 selling product, international expansion/success
  • Enter business, product, marketing and enterprise awards in trade and business titles
  • Submit content for regular forward features in titles such as the Grocer
  • Develop and maintain the MD’s corporate image and profile
  • Identify and pitch the MD for profile, interview, Q&A and speaker opportunities
  • Respond in a timely manner to requests for information from the media
  • Monitoring and reporting on competitor activity - Keeps up-to-date with trade press, industry and category knowledge and any other specific current affairs.

Consumer Objective: Build Brand and product awareness through media relations

  • PR activity to support and dovetail the marketing campaigns –writes and issues interesting, accurate and effective campaign, seasonal, survey and new product press releases
  • Ensure consistent brand messages and tie to Stepping Stones themes and content
  • Engage with consumer media, bloggers, key influencers and on-brand celebrities
  • Build a database of celebrity births, monitor ages, birthdays etc. and send products as well as branded merchandise.
  • Manage product sampling for reviews and product placement
  • Produce fun, creative media packs, press relations and desk-drops to influential media (on time and on budget) with follow through to achieve maximum results.
  • Seek out partner opportunities with other pre-school brands, eg. Toys, baby apparel
  • Enter consumer awards for product, brand and parenting endorsements, eg. Mumsnet rated.
  • Respond in a timely manner to requests for information from the media
  • Work with the wider marketing team to develop feature campaigns eg. Wafer moments
  • Manage press cuttings
  • Hold and lead monthly status meetings and send monthly status reports
  • Provide content for social media from PR coverage achieved
  • Echo social media messages with all media relations
  • Own and lead blogger outreach programme, establishing and maintaining excellent relationships with key, bloggers and utilizing social media
  • Capture and use best content/feedback from social media

Applicants must have the following skillset and experience

  • Experience in Baby category PR preferable
  • Either educated to degree level or equivalent level of work experience with at least 5 years PR experience
  • Demonstrable experience of excellent and highly creative PR skills
  • Exceptional presentation skills both written and verbal
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and to prioritize successfully. You will have multiple responsibilities to manage at any one time, so personal time management, prioritisation and diligence are key.
  • Digital and social media ‘savvy’
  • Enthusiastic and dynamic yet collaborative team player with a high degree of integrity and personal responsibility.
  • Ability to react positively to rapidly evolving brand requirements.
  • Personal drive, tenacity and energy
  • Desire to work for a small and ambitious company with a flat structure, and happy to roll-up their sleeves and get their hand dirty!
  • Taking full ownership of the role, and skilled at winning ‘hearts and minds’ within the team/company, championing PR
