Business Development Manager – Specialist Retail (Premium Spirits)

£35,000 - £45,000 + Company Car + Bonus

Field Based – London / South East England

This is an amazing opportunity to join one of the UK’s most respected distributors of premium spirits. The business has exclusive agreements in place with a number of fantastic, award winning brands across categories including Japanese & Scotch Single Malt, American Bourbon, Tequila, Mezcal and Rum. The quality of their products is reflected in the quality of the customers that stock them with numerous listings in places such as The Savoy, Claridges, Selfridges, Harvey Nichols and Waitrose! They are now looking for a Business Development Manager to manage a portfolio of specialist retail accounts across London and the South East.

As Business Development Manager for Specialist Retail your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing a core portfolio of c. 100 specialist retail accounts (incl. Fortnum & Mason, Harrods etc.) across London and the South
  • Driving distribution for new products and growing turnover within your customer base through effective account management
  • Prospecting for new specialist retail customers where there is no current trading relationship
  • Delivering inspiring and engaging staff education and training sessions within your accounts
  • Organising and running consumer tasting events, utilising the brand ambassador team where necessary
  • Implementing and managing promotional activity and calendars across existing customer base
  • As you progress within the position there will also be an opportunity to develop your career and work with larger national multiples within the retail channel!

In order to be considered for this position it is essential that you have solid drinks industry sales experience ideally within premium spirits or wine. Ideally you will have prior experience selling into the specialist retail channel but this is not necessarily a pre-requisite.  You will be entrepreneurial, self-motivated and passionate about the industry. If you have the relevant WSET qualifications this may be advantageous!
