About the Role:
This role will focus on the food side of the business and will involve you leading a category buying team to drive sales and profit margins as well as market share. Building a great relationship with suppliers through effective commercial management whilst maintaining negotiating power will be key for your success. The role will give you the opportunity to improve efficiency with suppliers. Taking out costs will be a large part of this role. Strategic planning through analysis of customer insight will allow this role to deliver a targeted % of newness through your options as a buyer/trading manager. Within this exciting role you will also be able to get creative to implement new promotions and marketing plans to drive commercial activities and NPD. You will be a proven leader and be comfortable presenting to internal and external stakeholders.
The ideal candidate for this role will have a proven track record as a buyer with commercial activities in the food sector. Experience within or supplying a major retailer would be considered an asset, as would experience in the food-to-go and/or hospitality categories. You will also need negotiation skills, and have proven yourself as a great communicator that can influence others. You will be a natural leader with the ability to motivate and work well within a team. You will have a history of strong decision making backed by results of seizing commercial opportunities through your skills as a buyer. You must have a positive attitude and outlook. Retail experience or being able to keep the customers in mind when making all decisions will be key to your success.
To be considered for this role you must have commercial experience as a buyer with proven results. Have a working knowledge of retail supply chains and experience negotiating the procurement of food products. You will have experience in leading direct reports.
