SUPPLIER MANAGER

C. £55,000

South of M25

The company is an established independent food business serving a fast-moving and demanding market sector.  Its expertise is in innovative product development and manufacture coupled with a global supply chain with a high customer service focus – food manufacturing, warehousing and logistics is outsourced to established supplier partners in the UK and abroad.  The market which it serves is a high-volume but quality-sensitive business with some larger, well-known players.  Our client operates in an expanding niche of speciality food products and has grown through its food quality, service reliability and excellent customer relationships.

As part of the company’s exciting growth, there is a need for a highly experienced and effective Supplier Manager to develop the supplier network and establish and manage close and reliable partnerships with current and new manufacturers.  You will identify and build relationships with potential new suppliers, in the UK and internationally, to support the effectiveness of the company’s supply chain as the business develops and will have a broad network of contacts and procurement experience to bring to the business.  You will explore and establish close commercial partnerships with appropriate manufacturers to build the supplier network and to support on-going supply chain operational and cost effectiveness to meet the company’s commercial needs.

This role is also responsible for shaping and managing the effective procurement of food packaging and supply chain related products and services from across the supplier network, to optimise gross margin management for money for the company.  Working with business development, customer services, product development and supply chain colleagues, the Supplier Manager will understand costing and pricing pressures and work through the supplier network to control costs and meet these needs.

You will have:

  • Extensive supply chain experience, particularly in developing and extending the range of suppliers within a close partnership network - ideally with experience in the food production and distribution sectors
  • Experience working in outsourced environments and with contract manufacturing
  • Experience in negotiating contracts with new suppliers to meet challenging end-user requirements
  • Managing and working to operational and financial targets
  • CIPS/CILT qualified (Desirable not essential)

The company is located south of the M25.
