About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Marketing, as Trade Marketing Manager you will have two direct reports and you will be responsible for the effective management and delivery of the annual Trade Marketing budget for the Refresco UK brands portfolio (circa £3 m). On a strategic level the Trade Marketing Manager role will help to ensure that profitable volume growth is achieved for the brand portfolio through your in depth understanding of the complexities of each channel and customer.

Your team will track and manage all promotional spend and trade investment in line with the annual budget and proactively help to identify and maximize opportunities for the brand portfolio. You will need to ensure that the appropriate systems, protocols and best practices are in place for the smooth and effective management of trade spend and investment, in line with Refresco UK and customer requirements. 

This is a senior role and as Trade Marketing Manager you will act as a role model for others, develop your team and help with the development of the wider Commercial team too.

The key responsibilities of the Trade Marketing Manager are:

Preparing and delivering trade spend proposals & the management of trade spend including keeping records of all promotional activity, reviewing effectiveness and costs post promotions. 

Establishing a key understanding of how each key customer manages its promotional cycles, ranges, terms & identify ways to maximize the brand portfolio’s volume and profit.

Assessing and implementing opportunities for improvements and changes based on the results of trade activity and performance.

Management of invoicing accruals and spends.

Category Market data analysis and interpretation to support development and maintenance of the brand portfolio.

Sales data analysis and interpretation.

Preparation and presentation of customer and retailer presentations.

Preparation and presentation of market sales and promotional activity data.

Range management.

About You

You will require approximately 3 to 5 years experience in the FMCG industry sector (preferably within Food & Drinks Manufacturing) in a trade marketing, marketing or sales position. Ideally you will have experience of managing others and ideally you will be educated to degree level in a marketing or business related discipline.
You will be able to demonstrate and articulate your achievements in developing, building profitability of a brand portfolio resulting in an increase in production volumes.
An understanding and familiarization with using category data tools and systems – e.g. Nielsen / Dunn Humby /IRI /Kantar is a definite advantage.

You will need to have a high level of numeracy, including excellent excel skills and you will need to be a great communicator both written and verbally including having strong confident presentation skills.

You will be commercially astute a proactive self-starter and able to work well under pressure of demanding deadlines on multiple projects and tasks.

This role includes travel on a regular basis, involving some evenings away from home.
