We are working with one of the UK's largest fresh produce & snack businesses, sourcing produce from all over the globe. They are looking to add a completely new role to their business and need to bring an experienced senior buyer into their team.

The Role:

This new position would see you as an experienced buyer taking the lead on a new and recently agreed project buying dried fruit and nuts on behalf of the ingredients business. This role is not so much about hammering costs and dealing with traders but more about relationship building with growers. As a buyer you would be building rapport and reputation with growers and producers that will enable you to work with them to reduce costs rather than squeeze them with pricing.

This role will also see you customer facing at times where you will need to meet and discuss procedure and pricing strategy. This role would be reporting into the Commercial Director and over time will eventually have an entire department built up around it and a real opportunity to lead a team in a progressive business.

The Candidate:

To be successful in this new and exciting role you will need to possess the following characteristics:

A degree or equivalent qualification in either business, food or agriculture or relevant experience in the sector.

A good level of experience (5 years +) in buying similar goods that will enable you to take the step up to senior buyer.

Relationship and rapport building experience to enable you to make meaningful relationships with growers.

Experience in dealing with products in both the Northern & Southern Hemisphere across a variety of currencies.

If you are a junior buyer in similar products and would like to take the step up to a more senior role, with the capacity to build a team around yourself then we want to hear from you!

If you are interested and would like to know more, please get in touch with Michael Kendall on 01780 480530 or michael@morepeople.co.uk for a confidential chat.
