Key Responsibilities

MAIN OBJECTIVE:

Reporting to the Customer Director and as a key part of the Waitrose team, this role will be responsible for leading the key interface between General Mills UK and the Customer, and the achievement of Company sales, share and profit goals, including maintaining and developing the growth of portfolio within this strategically important retail partner

Naturally, this is a demanding role which will require drive, ambition, enthusiasm and creativity, combined with a high level of technical skills such as selling, negotiation, forecasting and commercial acumen. Candidates will also be expected to drive high levels of Customer intimacy through strong and broad networks within Waitrose.

An appetite for driving change is as important as being comfortable as the ‘owner’ of the portfolio’s performance

The Senior Business Account Manager is a high profile role within the business and candidates should be adept sales leaders, focussed on developing their career with General Mills beyond this initial role

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare and deliver an annual sales plan for Waitrose
  • Deliver financial and volume forecast accuracy on monthly, quarterly and annual basis
  • Execute agreed promotional plans within defined investment budgets and continually refine by proactively identifying, evaluating and implementing revenue management opportunities
  • Drive thought leadership on our categories within the Customer and maintain industry-wide perspective
  • Develop and recommend account strategies and tactics to maximize the sales and gross profit for both parties
  • Implement plans for excellent execution within Waitrose, leveraging internal and external networks
  • Lead Customer engagement initiatives as part of a cross-functional team

Qualifications / Work Experience / Technical Skills

  • Degree calibre
  • Proven successful experience at National Account Manager level within a branded FMCG business selling to top tier UK retailers
  • Strong understanding & experience of UK grocery trade
  • Demonstrate understanding of category management process and awareness of how to use process to generate wins for GMUK
  • Confidence and ability to develop and present compelling sales presentations.
  • PC Literate
  • Strong sales and negotiation skills
  • Experience of delivering results through working in cross-functional teams
  • Experience of leading sustainable change in organisations
  • Understanding of consumer and shopper marketing
  • Advanced forecasting and commercial modelling skills
