They have realised their strategic goals by growing through both strong organic development combined with Rapid and Strong Entry into New Markets. One of the keys to growth has been their ability to drive a Growth agenda with the National Accounts; and in doing so establish a Best in Class Commercial Teams that work with Customers in True Partnership.
Having entered the UK Market via an major acquisition they are now committing strong levels of investment into both NPD and Leading Edge Category solutions. Operating within the Private Label (& Partly Branded) arena their offering is both sophisticated and premium in nature and subsequently has become a real product of choice for many customers and consumers alike. Operating within a divisional company structure their product range is now gaining huge traction in the market by offering Own Label and Brands of High Provenance & Exceptional Quality.
Indeed, with many great products within the Retail Space they serve across the EU, they are at the forefront taking the UK market and the respective categories by storm. As result they are now seeking to appoint a Business Unit Controller- Discounters & Premium Retail.
The Role- Business Unit Controller
Reporting to the UK Commercial Director and working closely with a the Marketing Director you will take full P&L accountability for
- The Discounters Channel
- Premium Retail
Initial Core Responsibilities
- 30% - Strategic Mapping & New Business Development
- 40% - Customer Focused
- 30% - Getting Close to NPD, Marketing & the Manufacturing Teams
Within this remit You will have full accountability for All Senior Contacts within the Channel; Involving working with key Trade Marketing Stakeholders, supporting launch of NPD, driving key events around Commercial Brand Plans.
Internally you will be challenged to deliver:
- Leadership- Matrix & Direct
- Set the Vision/Direction
Given the gravity of the role, it will naturally be the building block to taking up key Leadership role and building the Channel Business Unit.
However- To begin with, this is still somewhat a "Greenfield" Commercial Role. Whilst you will work alongside a growing commercial team- This not a High Man-Management role. Yes, you will be forming the strategy- but You will also be delivering it. Hence a "Hand on Approach" is an absolutely must.
Candidates must have strong experience of:
- Private/Own Label National Accounts
- This could be across Grocery, Discounters or Premium Retail
- However at some point in your career you must have gained an appreciation of the Discounters Channel. This could be either in terms of Direct Account Management or the Management Reports who oversaw the Channel.
- Experience of working closely with NPD & Category/Insights in driving Longer-Term Strategic Customer Plans.
The role requires a real “can do” mentality alongside a creative flair for solution focused thinking inside a matrix framework. Finally the role will need a huge amount of Drive and Passion for delivering real quality to the end consumer combined with a creative flair for delivering ground breaking Customer Solutions.
