Commercial / Category Manager- Pet Foods / Animal Feeds
Dodson and Horrell already enjoys an enviable reputation in the animal feeds and pet food categories, and with a loyal customer following across many specialist retail channels. In support of that customer base, and to assist them to capitalise on the substantial opportunities available to them, we have been briefed to identify and recruit an outstanding individual to manage the category function of this exciting business.
Ideally from a category management background, you will have an intricate understanding of all matters relating to category and business analysis. Your background is likely to be from within FMCG or similar, and ideally with an understanding of branding and brand equity. We should also be very interested in receiving applications from candidates with experience of customer facing / sales / National Accounts experience, provided there is also evidence of a real understanding of business and data manipulation.
In addition to managing our client’s category function, you will also be required to take on the function of business support manager. To undertake this role effectively, you will require a firm grasp of business modelling techniques, along with an understanding of how the various tools at your disposal will affect the profitability of the company, and its clients. You will very quickly assume the position of trusted category expert within the business, however there is no direct man management responsibility with this position.
An excellent communicator and highly presentable, you should carry the credibility and gravitas to take a position of leadership in the business, as you will need to liaise on a daily basis with the National Accounts team as well as all other functions of the business. Joint customer visits will also be a regular part of your remit.
Your current skill sets are likely to include the following; category management, communications with both salesforce and customers alike, data manipulation and analysis, Powerpoint and Excel to a good standard, an understanding of branding as well as own label offerings, profit and loss, business modelling, new product development ( from a commercial aspect, and not a technical aspect ), gap analysis, along with a good understanding of what makes businesses successful.
The job holder will be both office and field based, with occasional working from home to suit business needs. You are likely to reside in one of the following counties; Lincolnshire, Cambridgeshire, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire or Norfolk.
In return for your dedication and efforts, our client is prepared to pay a basic salary of between £45k to £60k with a substantial performance based bonus.
