Morrison Growers c/o MorePeople

Trader/Buyer
Circa £40,000 plus benefits and car
Rushden, Northamptonshire - with travel around the UK to the grower base.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to join our team and help us develop great vegetable supply-chains. The role will be based in the East of England with travel to Yorkshire and the grower base required; a suitable vehicle will be provided.

Morrison Growers, a small, dynamic and agile business, is now two and half years old and is doing a great job supplying Morrison Supermarkets with fresh produce. We currently source around 6,000 tonnes per week of mainly UK grown vegetables and are gearing up for further growth.

The procurement teams identify and manage grower supplies from around 200 growers into a supply plan for Morrison Supermarkets, delivering potatoes, carrots, onions and a selection of other veg to customer packing facilities.
In this role you will use your proven track record in the fresh produce sector and this will be an opportunity to apply and develop your commercial and planning skills in order to surpass customer quality aspirations and achieve our financial goals.

Reporting to and working closely with the Trading Manager you will be grower facing and instrumental in building our supply base and aligning stocks to supermarket product specifications and volume requirements. The main focus of the role will be on delivering consistent quality supply to the central client base and trading excess stock.

Do you have good negotiation skills and an intimate understanding of market values and cost awareness?

Working in a dynamic business, you must have sufficient IT skills in order to interact with a trading system for internal and external transactions including logistics. Good communication skills and confidence in dealing mainly with growers but also other parts of the supply chain are important.

A key ability is one of liaising with and influencing the customer in ensuring continuing efficient delivery of produce. The successful candidate will be highly organised and be able to exhibit a good understanding of the key principles underpinning produce planning and procurement.

This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate with excellent opportunities for career progression as the business evolves.

To apply or to arrange an informal discussion please contact Andrew Fitzmaurice 01780 480 530 or andrew@morepeople.co.uk. MorePeople is handling the recruitment of these appointments exclusively. Any direct or third party applications will be forwarded to them.
