Job Details

My client is brand owner to numerous category leading brands and on their behalf I am currently recruiting for a senior manager level opportunity within their commercial planning team.

The role of Commercial Planning (MS&P) and its wider team sit within centre of the commercial function and play a critical role in delivering brand performance through the brand, customer management and channel activation teams.

As a key lead in a matrix structured environment this is a challenging role that requires outstanding leadership and influencing skills across a broad spectrum of stakeholders. We would expect you be proven in a Commercial Strategy/MS&P function, having worked for a considerable period of time in a Commercial Strategy biased positions such as Market, Strategy & Planning, Commercial Planning or Revenue Growth Management.

As Commercial Planning Controller you will cross functionally lead all head office departments and processes on a select brand category. Guiding account managers on customer risks and opportunities and helping to control these. Taking full ownership for delivering category budget as well as setting both pricing and promotion strategy. Acting as a trouble shooter for a brand / category leadership team. The role is about understanding consequences of actions throughout the whole business, contingency planning up and down the organisation from Finance Director right through to Supply Chain. Working closely with customer marketing to ensure brand plans are deliverable and relevant to the customer. Challenging the norms, driving a longer term category and brand agenda into the business. Translating these brand and category plans into outstanding performance.

Requirements:

  • Experience within a branded FMCG environment
  • Direct experience of Commercial Planning, MS&P or Revenue Growth Manager
  • Customer Management and selling skills
  • Business Planning awareness
  • Business and Financial understanding
  • High level communication and presentation skills.
  • This is a line management role so experience of leading a team would be advantageous
