My client is one of Europe’s market leaders in the Painting and Decorating industry and are home to some iconic brands. Established over 50 years ago in the South of England the business expanded to become an established supplier to decorator’s merchants, builder’s merchants and independent hardware stores throughout the UK. Currently growing at 6%, turnover is c. £13M with 50 employees and the business is financially very stable. Today, they supply in to over 1500 customer across Retail (B&Q, Wilkinsons, Woodies, B&M) Builders and Decorators Merchants (Travis Perkins, Toolstation, Brewers) and Independent retailers, across both branded and own-label categories.

Due to continued growth my client is in a position to add a National Account Manager to their team. As National Account Manager you will inherit a portfolio of accounts and be responsible for a turnover of £5.9m. You will be expected to grow and develop this account base whilst also bringing on new accounts to add to the portfolio and increase revenue. This is a home-based role with 1 – 2 days a week in the office in Hampshire.

The Candidate:

  • A successful career in managing and developing National Accounts business.
  • Experience of strategic planning in a business to business sales environment.
  • Knowledge and experience of market developments and National sales channels.
  • The right attitude, tireless work ethic and a burning passion for success to be our ideal candidate.
  • Ability to demonstrate a good knowledge of modern marketing techniques.
  • Good organisational and planning skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication 
  • The ability to work on multiple projects at one time
  • The ability to work under pressure and to deadlines whilst maintaining attention to detail and accuracy
  • Experience of working within marketing, sales or sales admin.
  • An understanding of the commercial issues behind business-to business trade
  • DIY experience would be an advantage however not a necessity
  • This position will require extensive UK travel.
