Job Description

Reporting to the CEO, the Warehousing and Distribution Director will be a key member of the senior management team who will direct the day to day operations of the Distribution Centre, developing a distribution strategy that will allow the company to keep its competitive edge through distribution excellence. The successful candidate will also be responsible for all distribution functions throughout the business including distribution direct from our factory sites as well as the Distribution Centre. Based in the North West, you will have strategic responsibility to drive 'best practice' across the supply chain, delivering projects and a continuous improvement program to support business growth.

Key Responsibilities
• Establish departmental productivity, accuracy, and safety goals, tracking progress toward goals, and communicating progress to employees to achieve breakthrough performance.
• Develop departmental and management performance and set performance goals around cost as well as exceptionally high levels of customer service.
• Drive cost improvement activities by identifying system improvements, headcount optimisation, and improved square footage utilisation opportunities
• Establish common processes and procedures across sites to ensure a smooth running distribution centre within the supply chain by establishing guidelines, systems, processes, and procedures, as well as coaching leadership on more effective ways to streamline work flow and improve productivity.
• Develop and execute strategy to efficiently support special projects as well as new service offerings.
• In close coordination with planning and marketing teams, monitor and project space and needs.
• Engage with senior management in Production Operations, Transportation, Finance, and Marketing to create and deliver a supply chain across the operations infrastructure.
• Maintain solid inventory control processes and procedures.
• Understand and interpret our customers technical requirements
• Execute a continuous improvement plan across all areas of the Operation.
• Manage daily KPI reporting for activity and throughputs.
• Monitor successes, improvements and compliance with plan and budget, giving feedback to respective leadership.
• Develop departmental business plans, processes and budgets which enhance the Distribution Centre’s efficacy and efficiency.
• Ensure various classifications of hazardous material are stored, handled and transported in according with all regulatory requirements.
• Guide, direct and coaching leadership in the overall functionality and effectiveness of the Distribution Centre.
• Work proactively with all distribution partners to ensure that they are meeting their targeted KPIs and that all aspects of the distribution function of the business are running as smoothly and efficiently as possible.

Candidate Profile

The successful Warehousing and Distribution Director will be able to demonstrate the following experience:
• 10-15 years of progressive upward experience in distribution and logistics functions; preferably in the FMCG industry.
• Clear background in large network driven organization.
• Previous experience managing large scale operations.
• Planning and budgeting experience.
• Strong WMS / LMS systems background.
• A strong commercial understanding and excellent communication skills.
