Job Details
The company are an exciting business that deal in Accessories predominantly imported from the Far East. They supply the products to wholesale UK based retailers and retail outlets or distributors. The company are growing and plan to invest in other lines in accessories department and with this require a competent Purchasing Manager to join the business.
Responsibilities
The successful applicant will be required to liaise with UK based customers (retail stores) to identify products they need and take orders from them, source the required products/orders from suppliers in China.
- Negotiate prices and contracts with suppliers and draw up contract documents,
- arrange for quality control checks of incoming goods and ensure suppliers deliver on time,
- visit Chinese suppliers’ factories in order to research and identify new product lines with a view to generating business growth
- continuously comparison shop and negotiate to ensure the company obtains the best possible prices from suppliers
- analyse current buying systems and create the best methods for day to day purchasing operations.
- Supplier Performance Management – maintain close and regular communication with our supply base and develop tools to measure and monitor supplier performance.
- Manage our excess/obsolete stock
Candidate Requirements
- Understanding of purchasing products in the Far East
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Mandarin
- Prior working experience in the Accessories/Fashion industry
- Highly organised and able to multi-task,
- Excellent negotiation skills
- Able to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
- Ability to work with people from different cultural backgrounds.
