Within the Speciality Oils division, they cater for the cosmetic, food and nutritional markets. The business have their own technical experts who work closely with the commercial team, together they have a global reach to source and produce oils that meet any clients requirements.

Job Description

As Commercial Manager (Speciality Oils) you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the commercial division, senior level sales, setting & exceeding commercial targets, growth of the division & maximising profits through a team of 2 Sales Executives.

You will have the following key responsibilities:

  • Preparation and management of divisional budget, forecasting & analysis of financial reports.
  • Implement company strategy.
  • Fully understand, interpret & act upon the divisional & group financial performance - prepare & deliver monthly performance reviews to the KSO Global Commercial Director, CEO & FD.
  • Attend Management meetings & contribute to company projects as well as reporting to the Board of Directors.
  • Account management of major clients, quoting, stock allocation & face to face commercial pitches on customer visits.
  • Oversee & participate in marketing activities, including exhibiting at or attending UK & International trade shows.
  • Establish in-depth knowledge of the divisions product ranges and maintain & develop this knowledge.
  • Understand & follow the currency movements daily in order to accurately advise customers.
  • Meeting own & team targets, maximising profit and exceeding other agreed performance targets.
  • Ensure a high level of customer service is maintained at all times and respond to all enquiries in a timely & efficient manner.
  • Present & pitch using all appropriate communication tools to all stakeholders & customers.
  • Ensure a strong working relationship with Operations, Finance & Quality divisions.
  • Comply with all relevant operational, audit & trading guidelines.
  • Deliver identified projects/strategies through the team.
  • Identifying & delivering training and development needs within the goals set by the company.
  • Understand & regularly review the sales strategy for the division, working closely with the Global Commercial Director and New Business Development Manager.
  • Ensure & facilitate thorough communication with the production division to add maximum value to customer service.
  • Work in a culture that encourages ethical conduct, open communication & commitment to compliance consistent with Kerfoot & The Avril Group values.

The Successful Applicant

The Commercial Manager (Speciality Oils) will have the following demonstrable skills:

  • Proven track record in sales and account management.
  • Minimum of 12 months people management experience is essential - including recruitment, mid-year & annual appraisals, monthly 1:1's, setting team goals & targets.
  • Experience of FMCG, cosmetic/personal care, pharmaceutical or food production environments would be highly desirable and advantageous.
  • Knowledge of purchasing raw materials within the UK & internationally, including liaising with & negotiating with suppliers and dealing with multi-currency purchasing is highly desirable.
  • Thorough working knowledge of manufacturing and production/distribution chain activities would be highly desirable.
  • Action orientated & able to deal with multiple relationships effectively.
  • Creative thinker, able to challenge established ways of doing things.
  • Excellent networking, interpersonal & relationship building skills.
  • Understanding of a regulated environment & compliance needs.
  • Ability to travel within the UK & Worldwide is essential.
  • Please note this role is based at head office in Northallerton and you will be required to live within daily commuting distance. You may be required to travel to the manufacturing site in East Yorkshire as and when needed. A degree of flexibility can be offered over working from home or alternative Kerfoot sites at times.
