Category Manager

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Category Manager to join an exciting FMCG business based in East Yorkshire managing grocer multiple accounts. The business is an established food manufacturer with a wide portfolio of own label products.

The ideal candidate will be a tenacious, self starting individual with previous experience in a customer facing role. You will be able to build and deliver sound Category Strategies based on consumer/shopper insights ensuring growth for key customers. In addition you will lead category change and create a vision for the category moving forward.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and manage the annual category plan to execute the category vision and promotional strategies.
  • Identify and manage customer specific category initiatives and projects to increase sales and profitability.
  • Using available data sources (Kantar, EPOS, & Gap) analyse the sales uplift by promotions along with shopper KPI dynamics and shopper profile changes.
  • Lead and deliver the range, seasonal review and gap analysis processes with customers.
  • Range management.
  • Category performance tracking.


The Requirements:
  • Previous Category Management experience working within a retailer facing role.
  • Educated to degree level or the equivalent.
  • Experience of managing a small team would be desirable.
  • Expert user of Nielsen / IRI and Kantar databases.
  • Results driven and self-motivated.
  • Excellent communication, analytical and presentation skills.
  • Strong relationship builder.


You will be a career minded, high calibre Category Manager with a full understanding of the category management and range review process. The role is ideally suited to a candidate with a keen eye for detail coupled with a sharp analytical mind.
