This is a great opportunity to bring your retail Food Buying experience to an award-winning food business.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Grocery or Food Buyer to join a leading award-winning independent food business. They have a truly international supply base and they supply all of the UK retailers with both own label and branded food products.

As an experienced Grocery or Food Buyer you will have a strong retail buying background, ideally gained from one of the top four UK retailers. Reporting into the Managing Director you will work alongside a small team and be responsible for sourcing individual products internationally, as well as working closely with the sales teams supporting their commercial negotiations.

This is a great opportunity to join a fast-paced business that experiences year on year growth. The business is passionate about quality food products and also invests heavily in the personal development and growth of their employees through both internal and external training.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Develop commercial relationships with existing and new suppliers
  • Keep up to date with industry trends, economic factors and key suppliers for each category area
  • Work closely with internal teams on NPD projects to look at ways of extending and improving product ranges
  • Manage contracts and assist with tender submissions


Candidates will need to have a 2:1 or above, or equivalent, and have Food Buying experience gained in a retail environment. Exceptional negotiation techniques will be a given, alongside very strong communication skills and the ability to prioritise, multi-task and meet often tight deadlines. Excellent IT skills including Excel are essential.

The role requires good commercial acumen and a real commitment to first class customer service. You must have a desire to succeed, confidence and strong relationship building skills. Above all candidates will need to have a real passion about working within the food industry.
