Job Details

The main objective for a Picking Depot Manager is to oversee the efficient receipt, storage and dispatch of a range of goods

Responsible for a vital part of the supply chain process, a Picking Depot Manager manages people, processes and systems, in order to ensure goods are received and dispatched appropriately and productivity targets are met.

The Picking Depot Manager is also responsible for workplace health and safety standards and for the security of the building and stock. Specialist warehouses involve the storage of temperature-controlled products, such as food and the storage of hazardous materials.

Main responsibilities

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

•Provide leadership and direction to the team to ensure that they are engaged, focused, developed and delivering to their potential

•Review labour requirements vs availability; deploy cost effective plans to ensure resource availability and capability aligns with business operating needs •Manage safety in functional area e.g. Highfield Level 2 •Basic food hygiene certificate e.g. Highfield Level 1 •Understand the best practice processes for your functional areas e.g. picking, packing and transport operation •Manage Budgets •Understanding of Lean to identify and implement business improvement programmes •IT literate; able to use MS office suite to record and report effectively •Use of sector specific electronic management tools e.g.; Hand held technology, RDTS, Warehouse systems and System 21. •FLT licence preferable Ideal candidate
  • Ideally from manufacturing background in logistics with experience in stores, material handling and goods in.
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Excellent communicator, written and spoken
  • Supervision of the incoming spare parts and stock.
  • Knowledge of Inventory Control Systems.
  • Counterbalance Forklift Licence (Training Available)
  • 'Hands on' approach with previous manual handling experience
  • Experience of working in parts/after-sales or similar environment desirable
  • Good telephone manner and comfortable dealing with customers
  • Computer literate, with good working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Access and Excel
