Located in the highly prestigious St Peter's Square development in the city centre, Distrelec are establishing their new Enterprise Hub and hiring a Quality and Legislation Manager.

The Enterprise Hub will be the European home of functions that deliver the selection and purchasing of products, inventory management, collaboration with suppliers and all of their online marketing and sales websites.
Distrelec, part of the Datwyler group, is a leading online distributor for electronics, automation, measurement technology, IT and accessories in Europe and the exciting new Enterprise Hub in Manchester will be its first operational presence in the UK.

Your new role

Your role as Head of Quality and Legislation will give you full operational responsibility for defining and establishing the core product quality requirements as well as satisfying the compliance requirements in each of the markets served by the business. You will lead and develop a team of up to 5 people, based across several locations in Europe, requiring a certain amount of remote management, as well as close collaboration with most internal functions and 3rd party regulatory bodies. You will be recognised as the business expert in all aspects of product quality and compliance so your contribution really does count.

What you'll need to succeed

Ideally degree (or equivalent) educated in electrical, electronic or mechanical engineering, you will have a high degree of technical product knowledge relevant to the components market. In addition you will demonstrate an understanding of EU laws, more specifically relating to electronic/electrical products such as CE Marking (RoHS), WEEE, REACH, as well as experience of managing customs tariff code data. What is critical is your desire to continuously improve processes to deliver excellent internal and external customer service. Without doubt you will have the ability to influence and persuade colleagues at all levels and demonstrate strong leadership skills to lead and develop your own team.
