Business Development Manager – Wines

London On-Trade

Company:

A well established and growing family business with a strong premium Wine portfolio importing and distributing to the Trade. Based in London the company is experiencing steady growth and needs to add an experienced Wine Sales person to the team who will be instrumental in delivering further growth.

You will join a small dedicated team and report directly to the owner of the business.

Target Customers:

Hotels, Restaurants, Clubs, Catering and other Hospitality and Leisure sectors

Nature of the role:

This is essentially a New Business Development role and will require someone with experience in identifying, targeting and developing new Accounts and developing strong customer relationships.

It will initially involve a lot of ground work to generate appointments and win business but as the role develops it will become more Account Management focused. If the successful candidate has contacts that will obviously be an advantage.

The Role

The company is seeking sustainable growth from new business so it will be a results oriented position with agreed targets to achieve in respect of Sales and Margin. An attractive commission structure will be agreed for Sales achieved.

You will need to maximise your time identifying contacts, arranging appointments and developing a strong network.

You will essentially “self-manage” your time & diary compiling monthly reports for the business.

As this is exclusively “On-Trade” you may experience some evening work and therefore must be flexible on working hours.

The company delivers direct from their own Warehouse and can offer flexible customer solutions and excellent customer service.

Working within the M25 and very much focused on Central London, you will work from a home base within the region.

Organise tastings and other events to drive Sales and support customers in growing their Wine Sales.

You will have a good degree of autonomy and be able to put your personal stamp on the role

The Person:

  • On-Trade Wine Sales experience
  • WSET qualified, ideally Level 2 minimum.
  • Ideally but not essentially with existing customer contacts in the London On-Trade
  • An excellent planner, good time manager, works efficiently & productively.
  • Good administrative and IT skills, ideally with Social Media expertise.
  • A strong networker with excellent relationship building skills
  • Clear evidence and success in winning and developing new business.

Package (depending on experience)

£30k-£35k basic + commission + travel expenses

There could be some flexibility for an applicant with outstanding contacts and experience.
