As part of our Trading function, the Range team is crucial to exceeding the expectations of our key customers and shoppers. Selecting a range with the right cards, in the right shops in the right format is essential to a successful category.

Working closely with insights, product, merchandising and M&S, you’ll own Everyday and Seasonal ranges in all stores formats and channels. Whilst our products evoke emotion, it’s your selection and focus on driving efficient profitable ranges for Hallmark and the retailer alike. Leading a team, creating a best practice approach, your main responsibilities will include:

  • Driving retail sales through exceptional market, competitor, retailer and shopper/consumer insight
  • Working closely with the wider business and retailer to maximise sales in all retail formats and channels through excellent ranging and strong trade initiatives - with an emphasis on turning insight into action
  • Work closely with Category Manager to understand the Retailer’ shoppers to select appropriate ranges for their demographic, affluence, local needs and differing shopping missions by format
  • Define the macro space strategy for the category working with the merchandising & store development teams to optimize shopper choice, whilst maximizing sales, profit and return off space
  • Work with the senior team to lead retailer relationships for sign off of all cascades (where appropriate) and outposting opportunity

You understand retail and learning new categories comes naturally to you, but it’s your personality and ability to build relationships with peers and customers that set you apart from the crowd. We’re looking for you to show us:

  • Your Buying or Range building experience in cards or similar category working alongside retail merchandisers to set up a range framework
  • A strong understanding of differing shopper needs and missions and can translate this into ranging and product requirements
  • Experience of using and interpreting shopper insight such as Mintel, Kantar, Nielsen to assist in the creation of range plans
  • Flexible approach to working collaboratively with core cross-functionally to effectively deliver projects
  • Your organizational skills and strong communication skills
  • Your successful management of complex customer relationships to create a win/win for both the retailer and the business
  • Strong influencing, communication and organisational skills
  • You’re a natural leader who leads by example when developing a team
  • Has experience of building a strong team and developing others
