Established in 1989 and employing over 100 people, Rondanini is a family-owned business that imports continental fine foods with UK revenues in excess of £80m. Servicing the grocery, foodservice and food manufacturing channels, Rondanini supply primarily own label products including fresh pasta, continental desserts, charcuterie & cheese as well as other ambient lines. As the broader group expands both in the UK and in Europe, Rondanini are now looking for a financially astute Commercial Director to manage their grocery retail business.

Role

Reporting to the Board of Directors, you will have overall responsibility for the commercial management of the sales department, with several direct reports. Working closely with the Head of Development, you will work to identify new business opportunities, determining optimal pricing to balance profit with customer satisfaction. Comfortable managing your own P&L, you will work cross-functionally, providing insight to develop new and existing accounts. Culturally adaptable, you will spend a significant amount of your time abroad, specifically at the main factory near Venice, ensuring customer needs are being met, and liaising with external manufacturing partners. Crucially, you will support and develop the sales team, providing training, coaching and motivation to ensure that the team over delivers.

Requirements

Given the senior nature of the appointment, you must have at least 5 years commercial FMCG experience and retail account exposure to the grocery top 4. You may have a wholesale, retail or finance background but have demonstrated the ability to influence and communicate at a senior level. You must be fluent in both written and oral Italian, this is non-negotiable and a critical requirement of the position.
