About the Role

The Senior Buyer - Packaging and Ingredients is responsible for purchasing the packaging material and ingredients required to make the products produced within the factory. The post holder must have a sound knowledge of the Company's products and they will be required to work closely with the Production, Technical and Commercial teams to ensure that there are adequate supplies of material and ingredients for the production plan and that they meet the required standards.

Key Responsibilities

Purchasing packaging material in a manner which ensures there is adequate material to meet the demands of production whilst also ensuring there is not excessive excess material which would cause storage issues.
Purchasing ingredients to meet the demands of production.
Being aware of the lead times on packaging material and ingredients and placing orders in enough time to ensure their delivery for production.
Building strong relationships with current suppliers.
Securing new suppliers
Negotiating prices with current suppliers to ensure materials and ingredients are being supplied at the best price.
Liaising with the Commercial, Production and Technical teams to ensure packaging and ingredients meet the required standards.
Managing the Purchasing Assistant to ensure that they keep accurate records, challenge any invoice discrepancies, etc.
Completing any other duties as required in this role.

Experience

Previous buying experience is preferred.
Previous experience of working within the food industry or an FMCG would be advantageous.

Education/Qualifications

Ideally educated to degree level or equivalent.

Hours of Work

Hours of work will be from 8.00am to 5.00pm.

Other Relevant Information

Full driving licence is essential.
The post holder must be willing to travel as and when it is required.
On occasions there will be a requirement for the post holder to be flexible with their working hours to fit with the needs of the business.

£35,000 - £40,000 annual salary

Six weeks annual leave per year. This includes statutory holidays.
