With the healthy food trend looking as through its here for the long-run, it’s no surprise that almost every other day there seems to be another start-up business trying to make a name for themselves in the market. Our client is no exception to this, but arguably, they were one of the first!

Our client took the healthy food industry by storm, and in less than a decade they have successfully positioned themselves as one the UK’s fastest growing start-ups within the category. With their success growing year on year, as well as an international expansion and an enviable innovation pipeline, it doesn’t look like they’ll be slowing down anytime soon.

This is where you come in. Due to their huge success, our client is expanding their team and looking to recruit a Category Manager to join the ride. Sitting within the retail sales team, you will be accountable for nurturing relationships with the business’ key retailers, including multiple top grocery accounts. You will drive new business by identifying gaps in the category, opening new doors and securing new listings, as well as selling the brand story and outlining & executing a clear category vision. You will play a fundamental role in the business’ future success by identifying these opportunities, advising your customers and holding a highly influential position within all category meetings. You will use data to make strategic recommendations, engaging and exciting both internal and external teams on the next chapter of the brand.

The business themselves are a huge supporter of the work hard play hard mentality. With an entrepreneurial spirit at the heart of the business, they are looking for someone who is passionate about making a difference and growing a foodie brand from strength to strength. They are all for a collaborative team environment, both in the office and outside of working hours, regularly putting on social events, ping pong tournaments and silly incentives.

But in terms of competencies, you will need to be a commercially orientated individual, with a strong background in category management (2-3 years). You will be highly analytical, with experience making recommendations in a client facing role, as well as the ability to demonstrate you can think on your feet, use strong influential skills and build and maintain trusting partnerships with customers. Exposure to the food industry, as well as the grocery channel is favourable.
