Cambs Farms Growers seeks an energetic, highly focused, forward thinking individual to take on a challenging role within a progressive and vibrant farming business.

Long term sustainable production is at the top of our priority list and adapting to the ever changing world is becoming more and more of a challenge.  To be able to match the speed of this changing world a vacancy has arisen for a Technical Sustainability Manager to lead the technical sustainable farm management process on crop production. We, as a farming group need to produce more from less with ever increasing value to our consumers, in order to create point of difference within our market place.

Key responsibilities of the Technical Sustainability Manager

- Define and scope out what sustainable agriculture in tomorrow’s world looks like and what that means for our farming business.

- Evaluate our full production process to develop a theoretical sustainable integrated farming model.

- Appraise the ‘nutrition farming’ system and see where it can add value to our farming business.

- Work with our growers to be ahead of the game in addressing the sustainability challenges in crop production.

- Develop our ‘better soils’ strategy that is better positioned to support our crops.

- Establish a blue sky trial farm to begin the process of changing the current farming model to reflect the findings of sustainable agriculture.

- Learn from the leaders in different agriculture systems worldwide.

- Undertake a Nuffield scholarship and develop a leading edge knowledge base on sustainable production.

The skills and experience we are looking for in the Technical Sustainability Manager include:

- Passion and knowledge for sustainability.

- Knowledge and experience of crop husbandry and production.

- Good communication and influencing skills.

- Superior organizational skills.

- Research skills.


- 3 years’ experience in growing positon

- Track record of raising crop husbandry standards and practices in a large scale operation

- Financial Management and Business case development

- Leadership skills

- Ability to make connections and identify potential benefits in other farming models and crops

- BASIS and FACTS qualified

- Science, Agriculture or Environmental qualifications

To be successful in this role you are likely to be:

 - Inquisitive and passionate about sustainability and learning 

- Engaging, credible and knowledgeable

- Innovative, and a desire to make improvements

- Motivated by combining science with practical, hands on farming

- A self-starter

The job will involve:

- International and domestic travel to learn from leading growers, academics, experts and nutritionists within the industry.

- A willingness to study for professional qualification in BASIS and FACTS if not already qualified.
