About Govia Thameslink Railway
Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) is the largest train operating company in the UK, with more passengers, more people and more trains than anyone else. We deliver 273 million passenger journeys every year, and employ around 6,800 people at more than 100 locations across the UK’s busiest rail network.
We operate trains on the Thameslink route (which runs between Bedford, Luton, Sevenoaks, Gatwick and Brighton), Great Northern route (which connects King’s Lynn, Cambridge and Peterborough) and Southern route (which connects London, Gatwick and Brighton), as well as the Gatwick Express.
GTR is part of Govia, a partnership between world-class transport operators the Go-Ahead Group and Keolis.
About the job
We are currently in the process of modernising the railway to improve services for the 300,000 passengers who travel with us every day. You’ll be part of the leadership team responsible for that modernisation, and will be using your management skills not just to get the best out of your team but also to proactively deliver improvements across the railway. At the same time, you will be building strong working relationships across GTR and beyond.
About you
This role calls for real leadership expertise, including the skills needed to lead a large team of train drivers and a proven talent for getting things done. Railway knowledge and experience are not essential, although you will need to be able to deal with important safety issues. You will also need a genuine focus on the customer experience and the ability to use core processes and systems in an engaging, people-focused way.
