Our client is a large American organisation with a portfolio of well-known household branded consumer products in the UK and Europe. With a headcount of over 6000, the pace is fast and the day-to-day is diverse with all employees being committed to being entrepreneurial and collaborative in their approach.

Following an internal reorganisation within their Marketing structure a number of new and exciting roles have been created. Specifically they are looking to bring in an Assistant Category Manager.



Role:

The Assistant Category Manager will work closely with the Category Manager to commercialise sales and marketing programmes across all Channels of distribution, identifying and executing Channel-specific business growth opportunities. They will also work with cross functional teams in the planning and execution of commercialisation strategies that drive growth for the Category and Customers. Scope of responsibilities include the integration of the Channel profile into trade marketing strategies / sales plans and establishment of Channel priorities across Customers and sales teams.

In order to accomplish this, the Category Manager will work cross functionally to deliver sales and profits through commercialisation of Brand / Trade strategies and plans across the Customers / Channel focusing on a 9 month rolling plan. This position works closely with sales teams to optimise Joint Business Planning and Line Review. You will also be required to share multi-channel expertise, analytics, and category intelligence to enable the development of customer stories and optimisation of distribution, shelving, pricing and merchandising offered via Channels and large retail partners.



Applicants will need to demonstrate the following:

• Degree educated with 1+ years experience working with a leading Consumer Products company.
• Demonstrable knowledge of brand management and marketing philosophies, tools and processes and proven record of success.
• Strategic thinking, self-starter with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with aggressive deadlines.
• Advanced analytical skills and computer software proficiency (e.g. Excel, Access, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.).
• Strong familiarity with syndicated data, measures and software (e.g. NPD, Nielsen/Nitro, IRI, Consumer Panel, Spectra, ECRM or Market Track, XP3, etc.).
• Familiarity with space management principles and software (e.g. JDA, Prospace, Spaceman, etc.).
