Location: North West England
Operating from their brand new, state of the art factory in Lancashire, our client specialise in the production of delicious, high quality, ready meals for customers across the retail and foodservice sectors. To help deliver on their ambitious growth plans, they seek a talented and highly motivated Sales Manager to lead the business’ sales function.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the Sales Manager will be responsible for increasing sales within the existing customer base as well as targeting, and winning, new business – all the time ensuring all customers receive excellent customer service.
This position is a key role within the company and will be pivotal in the continued growth of the business.
Once they have immersed themselves in the business, and gained a thorough understanding of the company’s heritage, its products and its products provenance, the Sales Manager will use their knowledge (and their understanding of the business’ capabilities) to sell the company and its offering, passionately and effectively.
Working proactively they will look ahead and identify opportunities which could be used to drive sales growth. Using Specific and purposeful strategies and action plans they be tasked with identifying, researching, developing and converting new targets on a regular basis.
The Sales Manager will be expected to hone strong networking and relationship building skills – on a one to one level and at food festivals / trade shows - developing a network that provides valuable market information and strong insights into food trends and “fresh” ideas. The Sales Manager will also be expected to play an active role in New Product Development – liaising closely with the Product Development Manager to help create bespoke products for target customers (as required) and to progressively develop the Company’s brand.
As the company’s sales representative the post holder will be responsible for building and maintaining strong, mutually beneficial relationships with existing and new customers. Ultimately you will ensure that each customer’s requirements are met.
Finally, the successful candidate will be expected to maintain a high level of focus on cost, price and product engineering so that necessary price points and the company’s margin targets are simultaneously met.

- A established track record of sales success - gained within a similar food manufacturing business
- First-rate financial and commercial awareness
- The ability to network effectively externally within the food industry
- Demonstrable success driving results in a fast paced environment
- Strong NPD skills / experience
- Proven leadership skills – whilst the position will initially be the only, solely, sales focussed employee it is expected that the team will grow in the future
- Excellent communication skills
