The Company

This well-known FMCG business with a strong heritage of over 170 years and over US$3B global sales, is presently seeking an Export Manager to oversee the Southern and Eastern Europe Territory. Reporting into the EMEA Export Director, your role will be to deliver sales and profit growth in Southern and Eastern Europe Territory, through successful management of distributors and opening of new markets.

The international channel accounts for approximately 15% of net sales and is primarily made up of personal care brands. The European business is the organisations largest market internationally and has a turnover of US$170m net sales which includes both the Domestic and Export businesses. The European export team has recently been restructured and is now responsible for selling via the distributor network more of the global portfolio of products and Pharmacy (OTC) brands. The European division employs approximately 400 people in the UK and France. Over the past few years the company has continued to perform well, acquiring new businesses and it is presently poised for continued growth and seeking future leaders to help drive the business forward.

The Role

In your role as Export Manager, you will be responsible for:

Business Development
Including business development into new markets, motivate and stimulate distributors, monitor local market stock levels, sales trends and brand performance.

Marketing Activity
Including developing and implementing a marketing activity calendar with distributors, work closely with brand managers and distributors to ensure brand strategies are followed, funded marketing activity is accounted for and market intelligence is tracked.

Financial Management
Manage all aspects of regional P&L’s, forecast across territory, brand and partners and prepare yearly, quarterly sales and budget figures for the approval of the Export Director.

Distributor Management
Motivate, challenge and support existing distributors, evaluate performance, make recommendations, manage transfers between distributors, set pricing and control and oversee launches of new brands/SKU’s.

Input monthly demand forecasting and liaise with the Export Customer Service and Logistics team to ensure that customers’ orders are fulfilled on time.

The requirements

To be considered for the role, you should possess the following:

• Educated to a high standard
• Considerable export Account Manager experience within FMCG
• Track record of building new business internationally
• Good knowledge and experience of marketing and brand building activities
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• English fluency is essential and either Italian, Spanish or Russian are desirable.

This role is based in Kent, England and will involve travel internationally.
