The Business

Our client is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of consumer private label personal care products spanning a range of categories. As an American owned business founded over 30 years ago they have expanded through organic and acquisitive growth to become synonymous within the category and now operate in over 40 countries worldwide.

Proudly positioned as the number 1 in private label across their category globally with a European presence expanding at an unprecedented rate, the strategic direction is firmly set on continued development across growing markets. The UK, Germany and France have continued to show impressive opportunity to further develop and it is by getting closer to their customers to understand local market dynamics that allow them to realise this.

The Role

As the champion of the private label in their category across Europe the opportunity has opened up to bring in a Category Manager to support the Customer Marketing Manager to develop and present category plans with key customers across Germany, UK and France. Working in conjunction with account management and marketing teams you will be responsible for delivering the annual volume, profit and market share targets within the EU markets.

Specifically but not exclusively, you will be responsible for:

  • Analytical support in the form of market data and competitive reviews providing insights on category opportunities, pricing and promotional strategy;
  • Preparation of account category reviews and insights in order to influence the range stocked by customers;
  • Work with the sales team to provide support material for the existing portfolio and for the launch of new products;
  • Present proposals to improve existing portfolio and / or product profitability.
  • Ad hoc market research set up, implementation and analysis;
  • Support for specific marketing projects for the EU marketing Director;

The Person

You will take on responsibility for a selection of retail customers spanning the UK, Germany and France in conjunction with the Customer Marketing Manager. Germany, as the largest opportunity, will play a significant part and therefore fluency in German will be an absolute must and French would be a valuable nice to have. You will have experience working in a category management environment either in the UK or elsewhere in Europe and will be comfortable analysing and drawing insight from market panel data such as Kantar, GFK, Nielsen, IRI and EPOS sales data.

Uniquely you must have also shown the ability to work among the systems and structure which comes with being part of a global group but also balance this with the creative, entrepreneurial team spirit and ethos of a small team based in Central London.

The Opportunity

If becoming part of a true globally expanding consumer group with a clear strategy and realistic opportunity to continue to delight its customers is not a big enough opportunity, then the scope for international travel and the career advancement that follows should be.

If you would like to be part of business at one of the most exciting points in its history then please click apply and send your CV through to our recruitment partners at Paul Nyman Consultancy.

Company

Catmanjob.com was created in 2006 as a specialist division specifically supporting category, shopper and net revenue professionals.  The brain child of Paul Nyman who realised at the time “we just didn’t know enough about category management and how it affects a business”.  Catmanjobs operates as a division of  Paul Nyman Consultancy, which was established in 2004 to support wider FMCG recruitment markets, after Paul was made redundant, and toured the UK recruitment market seeking employment to pay the mortgage.

During this journey he identified some of the most important characteristics for job seekers hunting for a new role:

  • Understand what  I, as a candidate can do.
  • Honestly tell me why I cannot perform in the role I applied for.
  • Know how your clients can advance my career.
  • Get back to me.
  • Don’t BS me.

These have become entwined in the approach the team at Paul Nyman Consultancy take to support individuals achieve career success across the UK and Europe.

We offer not just recruitment, but wider career support and development through workshops which include national and international recruitment and development experience.

Not just a recruiter.

We enjoy being career developers.
