Our client is an ambitious, expanding medium-sized food manufacturer, part of a large group that  are well resourced and investing  in additional capacity.  They supply many of the top food retailers with a variety of own label products and are highly innovative and focused on NPD.

There are many other retail groups, both in food and related sectors that they believe their product portfolio would fit well.  That’s where you come in.  They require an experienced Business Development Manager to join the team to exploit these opportunities and to be part of an enthusiastic, growing and successful business.  They are looking to recruit a strong strategic thinker with an excellent track record of growing business in the food and drink sector, someone able to hit the ground running and develop existing and new relationships.

Responsibilities:

Managing a number of existing accounts with the major multiples.

This will include proactively generating new leads and increasing sales to existing customers, whilst working cross functionally to identify areas to increase sales.

Employ innovative sales solutions to identify and develop new retail or related opportunities.

Work closely with NPD to identify opportunities in market leading products that not only meet customer needs but also help the company exploit key opportunities within the industry.

The Person:

They are looking for an experienced and talented Business Development Manager who is looking to make an impact in shaping the direction of the business, ideally with retail sales experience.  Driven and motivated to achieve fantastic results you’ll have a proven track record of success in new business development where you have impressed customers with your excellent negotiation, influencing and relationship building skills.  You will need to possess a “can do” mentality and the ability to “hunt” as well as to “farm”.  This position could suit a variety of professionals including a NAM, Business Development Manager or Commercial Manager looking for a new challenge where you can really add value.

Remuneration:

In addition to basic salary of £50-55k, benefits include a car allowance, bonus, pension etc.
