Our client is a market and category leading FMCG business with an impressive history of growth delivered through a commitment to innovation and investing in brands. Our client is looking to further accelerate their performance with the appointment of a best in class Category Lead.
Reporting to the Category & Shopper Marketing Controller, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing the Category Team in addition to a top 4 grocery account. The successful candidate will be ultimately responsible for the internal and external delivery of category support and the overall "shape of service", including insight generation & reporting, management of customer range review cycles, merchandising, and relationships across all grocery retail customers. This role will lead & develop a team of four and will therefore require someone with proven leadership skills in addition to best in class technical knowledge.
A high degree of numeric and data literacy is necessary to develop compelling category arguments and the the ability to present / implement proposals in conjunction with key customer contacts is essential. Of equal importance is the ability to manage the technical production and implementation of planograms, and to identify / manage macro space opportunities.
The ideal candidate will have a breadth of commercial experience gained in both sales and category management roles. You will have demonstrable success in leading a team, developing people and delivering results via compelling category sells. You must have experience of working with the major mults, exposure to convenience, high street and wholesale channels will be an advantage. Strong strategic capability and a really positive can do attitude will stand you in good stead for this fast paced and commercial leadership role.
