JOB PROFILE: Customer Pricing Manager REPORTS TO: Pricing Director
Purpose Statement:
To generate additional margin across our contracted customer base via deployment of our pricing model and support tools, nationally and at a local customer level when appropriate.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
  • Review / track all CPL and Independent Key Account contracts at a product level, working with Account Managers and Product Pricing Manager.
  • Identify opportunities to:
    • Take advantage of better buying to price up in line with the market (“market relevant not cost plus”).
    • Price up “tail” products.
    • Price up negative margin SKU’s (after distribution costs).
    • Implement “never beaten on KVI” logic on core lines.
    • Ensure total basket value remains competitive.
    • Grow cash margin balancing margin % rate with volume sold.
  • Work with Account Managers to ensure price pass through decisions are properly supported and implemented:
    • Price changes supported / justified by external market information.
    • Price changes bespoked for each customer when appropriate.
  • Build trust and credibility in our pricing:
    • Produce a “market deck” each month.
    • Provide bespoke inflation trackers for specific larger acccounts.
    • Support implementation of “Brakes Mintec Price Index” (BMPI) with Procurement team – forecasting and reconciling retrospectively.
  • Embed the use of contract pricing and inflation tools amongst Account Managers for all new or existing business tenders.
    • Refresh and re-communicate tools monthly.
    • Provide bespoke support where material (towards £1m target).
Performance Indicators
  • Margin growth in contracts business tracked to isolate cash improvement target over 12 months (balancing % margin rate with volume sold).
  • Successful pass through of price inflation at agreed contractual windows.
  • Timely delivery of monthly reports and analysis.
  • Proportion of new business tenders won.
  • Proportion of existing business re-tenders won.
  • Usage of pricing tools among the Account Manager community.
  • Positive feedback from customers.
  • Positive feedback from Brakes Account Managers.
