Job Details
AHDB is seeking a Retail Insight Manager who is interested in retail trends, consumer attitudes, and behaviour within food retailing. The successful candidate will have a strong aptitude for looking at market information and consumer and sales data to pick out key trends. The work delivered helps shape strategy and looks to ensure that future growth in the industry are aligned with the needs/motivations of consumers.
Company Information
The Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB) is a statutory levy board, funded by farmers, growers and others in the supply chain and managed as an independent organisation (independent of both commercial industry and of Government).
Our purpose is to inspire our farmers, growers and industry to succeed in a rapidly changing world.
Our vision is for a world-class food and farming industry inspired by, and competing with the best.
Our philosophy is that levy payers are at the heart of what we do. In order to deliver genuine levy payer focus there is a sector advisory committee (known as ‘sector board’) for each of the six commodity sectors represented by AHDB. Each sector board comprises levy payers, other stakeholders from the sector and independent members. The main AHDB Board has delegated the responsibility to each sector board to develop the most appropriate strategies to meet the challenges of the sector; to ensure the relevant levy rate is recommended in order to provide adequate funding for the required work; to monitor strategy implementation and to approve remedies where performance deviates from plan. The sector board members are appointed by AHDB.
Team/department purpose
The aim of AHDB’s Retail and Consumer Insight team is to work collaboratively with industry stakeholders, providing the highest quality, evidence-based insights that shape sector strategy thus optimising levy payer competitiveness.
Role responsibilities
In conjunction with the industry the team review consumer purchase habits, monitor attitudes/behaviour and investigate further consumer and retail opportunities across AHDB sector divisions. The role provides an opportunity to work on a range of projects, often to identify key sales trends and motivations for consumption. As well as understanding the key barriers and opportunities that may exist to expand the category.
The Retail Insight team deliver and arrange presentations to discuss consumer and retail trends.
