National Account Manager – FMCG/Consumer Goods – South East

Our client is a market leading supplier of FMCG products used every day by consumers. This is an established, well renowned business viewed as a market leader in their prospective product category. Products are volume driven across a mix of brand and private-label, some of which is UK manufactured. Due to having a fantastic culture, the business has a track record of attracting high calibre people in recent years from a variety of FMCG organisations. They can demonstrate a track record of developing people through the business and have a number of longstanding employees. A key role has arisen for a National Account Manager to join the business and manage a key portfolio of customers.

As National Account Manager you will inherit a portfolio of key customers to the business, this is very much an account management and relationship led role. Customer base is likely to include Costa, Nando’s, Bunzl, Pizza Express and major restaurant chains. This is a significant part of the business and a key area for future growth. It’s an all encompassing role, key responsibilities will include:

  • Focus on increasing overall profit margins, cost reduction and maintaining service levels
  • Manage overall budgets effectively, ensuring good financial management of customer base
  • Working closely with other areas of the business to meet departmental targets
  • Full management of supply chain process to deliver best service
  • Building long standing relationships to enhance loyalty
  • Exploring new opportunities across other product areas to maximise business

In order to be considered for this National Account Manager position you will need to have at least 2 years’ experience of managing national accounts. It would be helpful to have experience of selling into the foodservice channel but not essential. This is a unique opportunity, we are open to candidates perhaps looking for a change of direction into a new category and customer channel. We are seeking candidates that have a background in FMCG, this could be across food/drinks or a non-food product. You may be ambitious and view this role as the next step in your career. You will need to have a good mix of numeracy, analytical and great communication skills. Culture is of high importance to our client, you must be a trustworthy and professional individual. It’s a team focussed environment that rewards people. You will also need to be ambitious as the role has the potential to progress in the future. Location wise we require candidates commutable to Kent area but the role does offer flexibility.
