Based: Home-based, North UK

My client is a Blue Chip FMCG powerhouse who are genuine industry leaders in the field of personal care and consumer products. Working with some of the biggest and best-known brands in the world, my client have the opportunity to take on an Area Manager to cover North UK, selling consumer goods into predominantly healthcare, research labs and food processors.

The Role:

  • Lead the Scientific sales development across North UK by gaining and growing relevant end-user businesses in Global Scientific strategic segments (Pharmaceutical industries, Research Labs, medical device manufacturers and users).
  • Taking a consultative and solution orientated sales approach, negotiate with key end users to sell the scientific proposition and maximise sales, price and profitability.
  • Work closely with the NPD team to develop new products and solutions where necessary to support the needs of the customer.
  • Build, maintain and develop for his territory a relevant Opportunity Pipeline of end user customers to acquire as per Scientific Global strategy.
  • Work in close cooperation with the entire scientific team to deliver channel plans and priorities.
  • Reporting to the European Scientific District Manager.

The Requirements:

  • Graduate calibre or equivalent desirable.
  • Prior field sales and account management background (minimum 2/3 years) with experience of negotiating and dealing with large end users and distribution groups is essential for the role – ideally in the segments outlined above.
  • Understanding of the scientific environment and market segments as well as demonstrating a strong commercial awareness and judgment.
  • Able to build effective customer relationships and respond to customer needs quickly. Develops strategic partnerships and sets and monitors internal and external service standards.
  • Proactive, confident and highly collaborative with strong influencing and leadership skills.
  • Strong numerical, analytical and communication skills are essential as is the ability to use these skills in a high pressured environment.
  • Prior experience of developing and implementing shopper marketing activity.
  • The ability to develop relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Time management and project management skills coupled with the ability to influence others where necessary
