Job Details

​My client is a successful branded food manufacturer looking to add a Business Development Manager to their team for the Yorkshire region. The focus of this position is to manage existing accounts and secure new business with retail convenience customers on a regional level and foodservice customers such as contract caterers, education, care homes etc.

The ideal candidate will already supplying into this customer base and have a keen desire to develop their career.

The Role:

  • Prospect for potential new clients and turn this into increased business.
  • Attain new potential clients by growing, maintaining, and leveraging your network of contacts.
  • Identify potential clients, and the decision makers within the client organisation.
  • Research and build relationships with new clients.
  • Plan approaches and pitches. Work with wider sales team to develop proposals that meet the client’s needs, concerns, and objectives.
  • Participate in effectively pricing the product range and service. Understanding market place factors.
  • Identify existing clients that could be targeted for sales growth.
  • Present new products ongoing and aim to enhance existing relationships to maximise sales value.
  • Present a professional image at all times.
  • Ensure that data is accurately entered and managed within the company’s sales management system.
  • Forecast sales targets and ensure they are met.
  • Track and record all sales activity on accounts and help to close deals to meet these targets.
  • Ensure all team members represent the company in the best light.
  • Understand the company’s goal and purpose so that will continual to enhance the company’s performance.
  • Participate in company sales meetings, conference calls and present results.

The Candidate:

  • 3+ years' experience supplying into regional retail convenience and / or foodservice customers
  • Strong account manager and new business hunter
  • Commercially astute 
  • Organised and ambitious
