The role

A food manufacturer is looking for a commercial operations manager to help with the smooth running of its commercial operations. You will be working as the central counterpoint within the sales, supply chain and finance teams to integrate the work that they are doing.

The role involves the harmonisation of the promotions and prices of the JBPs that the sales teams are developing with their retailers. You will be working very closely with the sales team to make sure that the promotions do not clash between the retailers and as such are integrated to create a seamless promotion calendar throughout the year.

You will be working with the demand team to help develop the demand forecast so that the supply chain is set up to make sure that peak demand is met. The forecast will also involve the finance team and you will make sure that accurate forecasting is developed. Once the promotion period ends you will measure performance against forecast and manage any discrepancies.

There is also some work with the packaging team creating the special promotional packs which maybe size or price affected. The role also has some commercial administration that will require the successful individual to manage the promotional data to help assist the commercial team with future decisions.

The person

To be successful in this role it is essential that you have the following skills:
  • Experience of managing a sales support function
  • The ability to deal with multiple commercial managers
  • Previous experience of working within FMCG is essential
  • Highly analytical and a strong understanding of commercial parameters
  • Experience of managing multiple projects at any one time
  • An advanced knowledge of Excel is essential
  • Some demand forecasting experience is required
