A well-established speciality supplier of premium foods are seeking an experienced Purchasing professional to work in a food based buying role.

The Organisation

Supplying the on trade and hospitality sectors, you will be joining a business with a reputation for premium products and premium service. The Purchasing department is one of the highest performing teams within the business, with excellent market knowledge and reach.

Because of account growth and an expanding portfolio of products, the business is focused on pricing management and supplier diversification.

The Role

This is a hands on Purchasing role, where you will actively engage with new and existing suppliers, running full tender cycles for key product lines and delegating to the rest of the team accordingly.

You will be heavily involved in NPD cycles and insight based market research, ensuring a first class product offering for customers.

By managing team performance, you will help to set achievable targets and map out personal development plans for your direct reports.

You will still be involved with some elements of stock control and purchase orders, but your focus will be on negotiation, SLA and supplier management.

The Person

You will have a background in food buying in a foodservice, hospitality, restaurant or retail setting. You will be a hands on negotiator with an interest in team management.

Candidates with strong Excel skills and those familiar with SAP will be at an advantage.
