Procurement Manager – Traded Goods

This business is a major player within FMCG, and are looking to appoint a new Procurement Manager covering a particular category.  This company are part of a global player which is a diversified international food, ingredients and retail group with over 100,000 employees and operations in 50 countries across Europe, southern Africa, the Americas, Asia and Australia. Grocery comprises consumer-facing businesses that manufacture and market a variety of well-known food brands both nationally and internationally. 

The Procurement Manager will operate as part of a wider team and take ultimate responsibility for the procurement of two specific business areas.  It is vital that this role works collaboratively with Commercial and Operational internal stakeholders and will be responsible for:

  • Manage the procurement of traded goods, with the exception of 2 products
  • Manage the procurement of all ingredients
  • Support NPD projects across the business for all matters relating to the external supply of new raw materials 
  • Initiate and deliver Procurement strategies for all key items in the portfolio
  • Measure and manage supplier performance in collaboration with sites, to drive better performance throughout the supply chain
  • Contribute to the delivery of the businesses Procurement savings targets through the delivery of cost down initiative
  • Work with other functions to expedite deliveries & solve quality issues where required.
  • Work with Procurement colleagues to ensure that all ethical and supply chain risks are identified, and where appropriate, managed.
  • Manage and forecast budgets in line with business requirements. 
  • Collaborate with sister companies & category leadership team on procurement and share knowledge.

The Candidate: 

  • Previous procurement experience: 3+ Years.
  • Degree qualified.
  • Valid UK driving licence.
  • Strong analytical, report writing & communication skills (verbal & written).
  • Experience in use of E procurement tools an advantage (desirable)
  • Experience in the procurement of a range of different goods and services.
  • Category management experience.
  • CIPs/part CIPS qualified. (desirable)
  • FMCG/Food Industry experience (desirable)
