Job Details
Are you a driven Commercial Manager, working within the chilled food environment with one of the major retailers? How would you like to take on the responsibility of developing and implementing the plan to deliver sales and gross profit targets in line with the business budget and strategy in a well-established company?
The Role
You will be responsible for managing relationships and processes in order to achieve green status across all commercial KPI's. To do this you'll be working closely with your planning and operations colleagues and customer logistics and buying teams to ensure a minimum 99.5% fulfilment of customer orders.
You will lead the commercial agenda for the business and will play a key role in developing a business strategy which delivers a winning commercial position.
Delivery of budgeted sales and profit. Quickly identify any shortfall and implement action plans to hit budget.
Lead the commercial function, build strong relationships and use consumer/market insight to establish the company as category leader.
Take lead role in the NPD and EPD process, delivering market leading initiatives, ensuring effective range management and growth of sales and gross profit.
Play full part in the new product costing process, ensuring only products which deliver both business and customer margin aspirations are progressed.
Provide and keep up to date all necessary sales forecasts which allow the business to plan production effectively.
Develop a promotional plan which adds value to the business and the category. Plan, co-ordinate and review all promotional activity to ensure successful implementation of promotional initiatives.
Monitor and report on market and competitor activities and provide relevant reports and updates.
The Candidate
Previous experience in a similar role.
FMCG background ideally short shelf life experience, ideally with own label experience.
Ideally, experience handling commercial relationship with M&S, Sainsburys or Waitrose.
Capable of strategic development with the customer.
An excellent communicator with strong influencing and negotiation skills.
Confident in making presentations and producing written reports.
Quality focused and commercially minded.
Builds strong and trusting relationships with people at all levels.
Work on own initiative, is flexible, positive and confident.
Good IT skills - Word, Excel, Power Point and Access database.
Numerical and focussed on detail.
Analysis & planning skills
Good budgetary, forecast and cost analysis skills.
A driven and determined approach.
Leadership skills
Clear decision making skills
Ability to influence across the business and delegate effectively.
