Retail Operations Director

We are working with one of the UK’s most respected family brewers; based in Yorkshire and producing high quality and nationally renowned ales.
The main purpose of this role is to take full P&L responsibility for the profitable development of the pub estate. This includes not just how to maximise the performance of existing properties (managed and tenanted) but also selectively identifying opportunities for acquisition and ensuring they are seamlessly integrated into ongoing operations.
As the Estate Operations Director you will be responsible for the future growth of the pub estate providing leadership, training, direction and motivation to a small team of direct reports including an Area Manager and the General Managers of three managed houses.
You will have responsibility for:
- Creating, agreeing and delivering an annual estate operations strategy and plan
- Ensuring efficient day to day operations of the estate as well as ensuring that all aspects of compliance are in place and up to date (e.g. tenancy agreements; kitchen audits; operations audits; cash control; etc.)
- Recruitment of tenants where required, ensuring all tenancies agreements adhere to the new Code of Practice
- Acting as the point of contact for licensing, environmental health and other complaints and enquiries
What we are looking for
- Commercially astute, articulate, technically strong, dynamic, insightful and influential leader with the ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels bringing both technical ability and ideas/creativity to the role
- Significant and varied experience in managing both managed houses and tenancies
- Strong understanding of pub operational legislation, standards and requirements (licensing, environmental health, etc.)
- Excellent communication skills combined with an open and collaborative approach; a real team player
- Ability to handle pressure and critical decision-making
