Are you looking for a breath of fresh air in your next career move? Do you relish being by the sea? Do you have a background in retail, food and beverage offerings in the travel, leisure or retail sector?

As the Head of Onboard Services you will be leading a team to help conceptualise, deliver and drive the onboard strategy for a long established ferry company, on a number of important trade and leisure routes.

The Role:

  • Drive onboard revenue performance versus budget and manage margins and cost control. Initiate recovery plans as required.
  • Accountable with Commercial director for setting OBS budgets and tracking performance to target.
  • Contribute to the development of sales and marketing plan for onboard retail and food and beverage, working with Head of Sales and Marketing.
  • Establish pricing strategies and promotional plans for discounted sales targeting agreed margin and sales volume levels.
  • Own key supplier relationships for both onboard retail and Food and Beverage.
  • Monitor customer satisfaction and other research to keep up to date with customer behaviour and trends, commission additional insight as agreed with line manager to ensure that service meet customer expectations.
  • Review and re-engineer product offering as required, in line with customer requirements and business needs.
  • Establish and manage Service Level Agreements for all aspects of the offering at detailed level including for upgraded seating areas. Monitor compliance on a monthly basis and commission/undertake more detailed audits/inspections as needed escalating issues as required.
  • Managing OBS team and budgets to agreed strategy/plan.
  • Product development and product marketing planning as agreed with line manager.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for innovation and product/range& development aligned to agree strategy for onboard services.
  • Act as subject matter expert on regulatory requirements for onboard services, ensuring that duty free retail complies with external regulations and that food and beverage services cater for a range of dietary needs.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Degree educated, or equivalent
  • Experience in travel retail sector, and management within this sector
  • Experience managing competing priorities effectively
  • Strong analytical and commercial experience
  • Experience monitoring performance to budget
  • Leadership
  • Negotiating with suppliers/negotiating contracts
  • Experience managing a team

 

All candidates must be eligible to work in the UK without sponsorship, and be willing to travel on the routes of the ships regularly.
