NPD Buyer

Our client is a leader in the Chilled Food sector of Food Manufacturing. They are looking for an experienced Buyer to join their busy team and have an immediate impact. The right person will have cultivated the ability to act on a combination of information and instinct when making Buying decisions for the business. With scope for progression and additional responsibility this role will be a natural progression for the right person.


The Buyer will predominantly focus on sourcing fit for purpose ingredients & packaging and associated information for the Bakery side of the business.
With time and for the correct candidate, this role could also encompass ingredients & packaging sourcing , as well as the opportunity to manage some site specific material categories.

The role will include:

i.Liaising with the NPD team (chefs) to source new products to meet external customer needs driven by NPD briefs.
ii.Liaising with NPD team (technologists) to order trial materials.
iii.Liaising with internal stakeholders on material improvements to add value to the site P&L.

*Ordering concept samples base on requirements captured on the 'sample tracker'.
*Requesting specifications for all new materials
*Requesting price, MOQ, leadtime, seasonality, allergen data, codes of practice data - as appropriate, to ensure materials are 'right' for the business.
*Managing and collating all data around new materials to ensure product costings are accurate and launch margins are maintained not eroded.
*Keeping the 'new material tracker' up to date and publishing to the wider team when products are signed off.
*Completing new material and new supplier forms for the finance teams at both site and group.
