Executive Chef / Sales Advocate – Restaurant / Pub / Hotel Groups

£38,127 to £51,886 Basic, Bonus, Executive Company Car + Benefits

When is a salesman not a salesman ? Answer – When he’s a chef ! To be clear, we are looking for a chef who can sell, as opposed to a salesman who knows food, as the role is not pure sales, but also acting as technical support and adviser to the many head chefs, executive chefs, and kitchen staff, who will be seeking your advice on a daily basis. You will be heavily involved with the menu planning and kitchen processes at the very heart of our client’s own client’s success stories. In short you’ll need to know your onions !

Our client is part of a multi-national group of companies, with a head office in France and shortly to open offices here in the UK ( London and Brighton ). We have been briefed to identify and recruit an outstanding individual to take over the management of a number of national and regional restaurant groups here in the UK. The products are mainly spices, condiments and delicatessen items, and are currently sold as a finished ( front of house ) product.  There is however a massive untapped opportunity to sell the products as ingredients to both regional and national hotel and restaurant groups throughout the country.

Rather than Brexit being a threat to this company, it is a veritable boon, and has created an unparalleled opportunity for their products here in the UK. The finished products are already on sale here in the UK by way of a ( very loyal ) regional distributor channel, however there is a massive untapped opportunity to sell the products as ingredients to regional and national hotel and restaurants groups throughout England. Your role would be to spearhead the sales of ( ingredient ) product directly into this channel. There is no involvement with the wholesale channel with this particular vacancy.

To be considered for this exciting role, you should have experience at a senior level selling direct into restaurant, hotel or pub groups etc. ). You should also have a real passion for food, and it is very likely you will have been a chef at some time in your career to date; a large part of the job is cook offs / demos to head chefs and kitchen staff, so you’ll definitely need to know the inside of a kitchen.

This is a field based role, however you will be required to be in the UK office about once each week ( central London ), plus there may be a small amount of national travel. You may also be required to travel to head office in France occasionally, but typically no more than once or twice a year.

Our client is looking for the very best in the field and is prepared to pay accordingly. The basic salary on offer is between £38,127 and £51,886 plus a performance related bonus. There is also an executive level company car with the position ( typically a Mercedes, Citroen or Renault ). Career prospects are substantial for the right candidate !

To apply for this opportunity, please send your CV in the first instance to richard@houghton-mckenzie.com .
Please note that by responding to this advert you are giving permission to Houghton McKenzie Ltd to communicate with you about this role and any other roles we may handle that could be of interest to you.
DUE TO ANTICIPATED RESPONSE LEVELS WE SHALL ONLY BE ABLE TO CONTACT SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS. IF YOU DO NOT HEAR FROM US YOUR APPLICATION WILL BE DEEMED UNSUCCESSFUL ON THIS OCCASION.
