Due to growth my client is looking for an Area Sales Manager covering the Midlands territory. The company are a market leader within Pet food with a reputation for being innovative. 

The role is targeting independent retailers across the Midlands area. You will need to grow and develop the existing account base working towards monthly targets. Reporting to the sales manager, this position is responsible for driving direct sales for a leading pet food manufacturer in the Pet trade. The primary focus is managing an existing customer list of around 80 retailers whilst winning new business and distribution of our brands into the pet market.

My client is specifically looking for someone with a strong sales background ideally from within the same product category where you are dealing with independent pet retailers. You could be an Area Sales Manager or Business Development Manager from within the industry looking to join a growing, innovative business with some great products. This person must be reliable, trustworthy with lots of drive and enthusiasm to be successful.

Main Duties:

  • To manage an existing customer list of around 80 retailers, varying from Country Stores, Feed Warehouse’s and Pet Shops
  • Develop the central territory by identifying and targeting prospects through cold calling, internet searches, and exhausting our current database.
  • To sell promotions to new and existing customers as directed by the sales manager
  • Achieve specific annual sales targets and also NPD targets as requested
  • To produce weekly call reports for the sales manager as requested.
  • Develop strong relationships with store managers of a National Wholesaler in the territory.
  • Ensure our products are merchandised in the correct way inside the wholesaler and that our products have maximum presence in store.
  • Implement stands/shelving and point of sale material in all customers
