A vacancy for a Technical Sales Manager has arisen with this award-winning UK dairy producer. With an enviable portfolio of cheese, butters and spreads, the company has recently completed further investment into the UK largest cheese creamery to now develop a functional ingredients (D90, GOS) business unit.

This expansion gives the business completely new global markets to access (such as infant formula) and a new set of highly challenging customers to engage. After partnering with the leading global distributor of infant formula, the Technical Sales Manager will responsible for managing this key relationship, will help support activities to successfully launch these new products and maintain and develop relationships/sectors (such as animal feed) with the customer base on an ongoing basis.

Responsibilities:

• To be the key technical link for the Functional Ingredients customer base
• To champion the customer and consumer with the site team
• To support the introduction of new functional ingredients products into existing and new markets
• To identify & champion adoption of industry best practice technical standards & procedures

Knowledge & Experience Required:

• Degree level standard or equivalent in Food Science/Technology.
• Experience of the food industry and ideally dairy/ingredient technology.
• Ability to communicate effectively both internally & externally with customers and suppliers
• Able to manage several projects simultaneously, work with a close team and on you own
• Precise attention to detail and a full clean driving licence are also prerequisite
• A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office is essential.



Principal Accountabilities:

• Be familiar with Infant Formula customer audit standards, their implementation and requirements.
• Complete regular local reviews of equipment, systems and procedures
• Ensuring Quality Improvement plans are in place and evolve to meet requirements
• Work with technical teams to implement technical initiatives within an agreed timescale.
• To arrange customer audits with the site team and facilitate the audit process
• To respond to all initial customer on-boarding documentation
• Be the first point of contact for general customer technical queries
• Support incident teams as required
• To process all sample requests, logging requests in the database and progressing follow-up actions To manage the gate process for specification changes (inc. testing methodologies)
• To be the technical specialist in sales presentations to the customer base
• To explore technical best practice with the customer base, recommend elements for adoption by the site technical team and help support as appropriate.
• Support ongoing development of an “infant food” culture across the business.
• Travel required to North Cornwall, Surrey and to customers, both nationally and internationally
